Anthony Kapolka

Anthony Kapolka is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Wilkes University with graduate degrees in Computer Science, Theology, and Creative Writing. Over the last twenty years he has taken students to present at the Eastern Colleges Science Conference, a conference he chaired in 2001 and 2017. He has spent the last four summers mentoring nine undergraduates working on two research projects.

While his early research was in information retrieval and artificial intelligence, the intersection of his interests lies in the digital humanities. Most recently he has developed a domain-specific indexing technique based on Franz Stanzel’s narrative theory; reframed as prescription it can recommend the best narrative style for a work – a boon to nascent writers. As validation, he is applying this to oft-retold genre literature such as the ‘Jesus-novel.’
